Meme Assignment

A democracy is a political system that empowers all citizens to rule either in their own capacity or through their representatives. It has been thought as the most just and egalitarian form of government since it meets the will of most people yet protects their minority rights.
This meme I made is called “Condescending Wonka.” The picture is Willy Wonka with the caption, “Oh, you think voting is pointless? Tell me more about how you enjoy being ruled without consent.” It humorously captures the value of voting and the need for citizen participation in the democratic process by indicating that when a person doesn’t have a voice in government decisions, he probably will pay for it.
Democracy has free and fair elections, protection for human rights, and the rule of law. Thus, by a majority of case, it will give a citizen freedom to influence his government policies and decisions through his ballot. Hence this would mean tangible participation to be ensured that government would continue to be answerable and accountable to the needs of the people.
In our readings, it stated that “democracy is not just the right to vote, but also the right to be represented, to have a say in how one is governed” (Author, Year). Broadly speaking, that means democratic governance is more than just voting.
“Democracy is that government which, through a voice, empowers the citizens to participate in making decisions affecting governmental matters.” In the same vein, this meme reflects this argument by emphasizing the significance of voting and the consequences of being apathetic about public life. Understanding democracy would help appreciate the freedoms and equality it stands for.
I would score myself a 10. The meme explains the concept of democracy clearly and the essay elucidates the concept thoroughly with scriptural quotations cited accurately from the readings.

Maksym, I must disagree with your self-grading assessment- you have uncited quotes (that don’t exist anywhere on the internet or in our readings), and you left “Author, Year” in your post- this is a dead give away that this is not your writing.
